The Problem We Solve
Most hydration advice online is generic, inconsistent, and not backed by evidence. A 50 kg sedentary person and a 100 kg athlete clearly don't need the same amount of water — yet most resources treat them identically. This leads to two dangerous outcomes: chronic under-hydration (fatigue, kidney strain, reduced mental clarity) or, in rarer cases, over-hydration (hyponatremia).
Hydration Calc eliminates the guesswork. Our engine uses the clinically recognized baseline of 35 millilitres per kilogram of body weight, then applies scientifically validated multipliers for physical activity (ranging from 1.0× for sedentary lifestyles to 1.5× for professional athletes) and adds climate-specific adjustments (up to +500 mL for hot/humid environments and high altitudes). The result is a recommendation tailored specifically to you.

The Science Behind the Calculator
Our calculation engine is built on peer-reviewed hydration science and follows a three-step process:
- Baseline calculation: We start with 35 mL per kilogram of body weight — a widely accepted clinical guideline endorsed by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and consistent with recommendations from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
- Activity adjustment: Physical exercise increases water loss through sweat and respiration. Our engine applies a multiplier from 1.0× (sedentary) up to 1.5× (professional athletes training twice daily), reflecting the progressive increase in fluid requirements with rising activity intensity.
- Climate modifier: Environmental conditions play a significant role in hydration needs. Hot and humid climates increase sweat rate dramatically. High-altitude environments accelerate respiratory water loss due to lower air pressure and humidity. Cold climates also increase metabolic water demand. We add 250–500 mL depending on your environment.
The final result is expressed in both millilitres and cups (1 cup = 250 mL), making it immediately actionable. Our interactive cup dashboard then lets you visually track every glass you drink throughout the day, turning a simple number into a habit-forming experience.
